Rotary Club to build counselling centre in Abuja

The 39th president, Rotary Club of Abuja, Rtn Kayode Stephen, says Rotary is building a massive counselling centre at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Abuja.

Addressing newsmen Sunday in Abuja on the side-lines of his investiture and fundraising for projects, Stephen noted that the centre is part of over 25 projects the club will execute.

He said: “We’ll do over 25 projects. One of our key projects is the building of a counselling centre in FMC, Jabi, Abuja. That project for us is a star project and is worth over N40m.

“The centre will provide a place of sanctuary for people to go to. If somebody is a drug addict, they need to talk to somebody to get out of the habit. That place will provide them a safe, sound and secure place where professionals will advise them.

“Rape victims that don’t want to talk because of stigmatisation can enjoy the privacy that this counselling centre will provide. It will be a voice to everybody.”

He also said the club had three projects to eradicate open defecation in the FCT.

“We’ll work with the Ministry of Health until there is no more open defecation,” he added.
