The 26th president of the Rotary Club of Wuse Central, Dr Tomola Emaleku, has said the club will invest in education in the FCT.

He said the club had finalised plans to build a digital library at the Government Secondary School, Apo.

Speaking to journalists after his investiture on Monday night, Emaleku said the library would ease students’ access to information to aid their studies.

He said: “We have seven areas of focus but my major project is on education and literacy, that is establishing a digital library at the Government Secondary School, Apo.

“You know most of these schools, getting books is very hard for the students but the Internet has made it so easy for them to access all the books they want without paying anything.

“So, we intend to build a library for them, equip it with computers and give them internet for at least the next one year that I will be in power.”

He also said the club would also equip a primary health care centre in Jahi with an ultra-sound machine and train the nurses on its use.

Besides, Emaleku said the Club was considering providing a borehole for the community to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases.

Ms Sarah Sanda, former Special Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Media, commended the project plans to be apt in tackling the community challenges for the year.

Sanda, who was also a past president of the club, promised to support the project implementation through fundraising to ensure the completion.

“We need more people to join us, we cannot do this work alone, we call on well-meaning Nigerians and international organisations to support the project implementation.

“What we are giving is our time, resources and talent, but if we have the resources we must use it for the good of humanity,” she said.
