The team manager of Rovers FC of Calabar, Edem Oyom, has revealed that several of his players are suffering from internal bleeding following a serious motor accident on their way to Lagos on Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred at Okada Junction in Delta State after the team’s vehicle reportedly lost control and overturned.

One player, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was critically injured, while others sustained deep cuts and varying degrees of injuries. Oyom added that he and other team officials were also affected.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Oyom said, “I have to stay strong. The most critical case has now been medically stabilised. Many others are responding to treatment, but there are still concerns.

“Medical personnel at the facility in Okada town indicated that several players are experiencing internal bleeding.”

He added that the injured players were evacuated on Wednesday morning to Asaba, Delta State, where they are expected to receive more comprehensive medical care.

Oyom noted that the club is making concerted efforts to ensure all affected players are stabilised.

The team had been travelling to Lagos for a scheduled Nigeria National League (NNL) fixture against Sporting Lagos FC.
