The Olu of Imasayi in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Lukman Kuoye, yesterday appealed to aggrieved indigenes of the town over his choice as the new Oba to shield their swords.
The monarch urged the other candidates that contested for the stool to put the past behind them and join hands with him to develop the town.
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that some aggrieved indigenes of the community had, last week staged a protest, describing his emergence as “politically motivated.”
But Oba Kuoye, during his official coronation ceremony and conferment of chieftaincy tittles on prominent indigenes and other personalities in the ancient community, appealed for peace to reign, saying the indigenes of Imasayi could not afford to be divided over the royal stool.
The monarch also honoured some prominent Nigerians, among them, a communication expert, Dr Sola Adeosun as Baaroyin of Imasayi and Chief Yemi Oketola as Sobaloju of Imasayi.
