RTEAN appoints new secretary-general

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has appointed Comrade Henry Ejiefor Ugwu as its new National Secretary-General.

The appointment was announced after the NEC meeting held on September 25, 2025, presided over by the Deputy National President (Administration), Ambassador Mohammed Abubakar Bishara.

According to a statement jointly signed by RTEAN National President, Alhaji Musa Mohammed, and the new Secretary-General, the decision followed the adoption of recommendations from a seven-member committee set up to investigate allegations against the former secretary-general, Mr. Yusuf Ibrahim Adeniyi.

The statement noted that Ugwu’s appointment takes immediate effect in line with the association’s constitution and the provisions of the Trade Unions Act, Cap. T14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

“All members, stakeholders, government institutions, security agencies, and the general public are hereby notified to accord full recognition to Comrade Henry Ejiefor Ugwu as the duly appointed National Secretary-General of RTEAN,” the statement read.

The NEC also reaffirmed the union’s commitment to transparency, accountability, industrial harmony, and effective collaboration with government institutions to advance peace and development in Nigeria’s transport sector.
