Rumfa old boys foot medical bills of 20 patients at Kazaure hospital

The 1971 set of old boys Association of Rumfa College Kano (RUMFOBA 71 class) have settled the medical bills of over twenty indigent patients at General Hospital Kazaure Jigawa state.
The philanthropic gesture was part of the resolutions reached at the 49th Annual General Meeting of the association which took place over the weekend ahead of its 50 years anniversary at Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic Kazaure.
Twenty patients, including ten males and ten females benefited from the intervention.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the distribution of the cash to the beneficiaries, the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Umar Mohammed, said the gesture was meant to identify with the under-privilege members of the society.
He said: “We do this as a way of giving back to the society and to also identify with the under-privileged. We came to Kazaure to do our AGM, the 49th general meeting and from there we decided to come to the hospital to assist some of the patients in the hospital in our little way to help settle their medical bills and buy drugs for them. We selected 20 patients and donated some money to them to enable them settle their medical bills.’’
He called on other associations and wealthy individuals to always strive to identify with the vulnerable under-privilege, saying “by doing what you think is little you may end up saving lives.”
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke to our reporter, expressed delight and appreciation to the association, describing the gesture as an uncommon exhibition of love and care for humanity.
“This is an uncommon show of concern and love for humanity, since we came here about six days ago we could not buy most of the drugs prescribed by the doctor for our brother because of lack of money but today courtesy of this unexpected visit we have been able to buy the drugs. I pray Allah to reward them accordingly” Malam Amaryawa, one of the beneficiaries said.
Other sidelines of the meeting included a courtesy visit on the emir of Kazaure Alhaji Najib Hussaini Adamu at his palace by the members of the association.
