Rumours of my death greatly exaggerated – Ali Nuhu

Ali Nuhu, one of the biggest Nigerian movie stars, says he is alive and well. He was responding to reports which were being circulated on the internet via social media, that armed bandits had stormed his Kano home and killed him during an operation. “Those are just rumours,” he told Daily Trust, adding light-heartedly while quoting famous author Mark Twain that they are “greatly exaggerated”.
Nuhu said he was shocked to be told about the rumours, but when friends and even family began to call out of concern, he became worried. “I don’t understand why anyone would just cook up such stories,” he said.
The rumours first began on Facebook on Thursday, spreading to Twitter and even popping up on a number of popular blogs.
“I’m hale and hearty, and in no danger whatsoever,” Nuhu said via a phone conversation, during which he disclosed that he is hard at work on the set of a new epic movie on the famous Queen Amina, on location at Jos, Plateau State.
The new movie, Nuhu said, is being helmed by famous Nollywood director Izu Ojukwu. Daily Trust also gleaned that a newcomer is playing the part of the titular queen, and award-winning cinematographer Yinka Edward is attached to the project.
