President of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has applauded the outstanding performance of young Nigerian golfers following the country’s historic debut at the maiden edition of the ISF World School Golf Championship in Rabat, Morocco.
The weeklong event, which ran from July 14 to 21, brought together young golfing talents from across the globe, offering a unique blend of top-tier competition and cultural exchange.
Representing Nigeria in the Under-15 boys’ category were two promising stars—Master Oluwashetemi Oyero of Ikeja Golf Club and Master Oluwamayomile Adesan Orungbeja of Ikoyi Club 1938. The team was led by the NGF’s Technical Director, Mr. Olajide Bolaji.
Commending the young duo for their bravery, skill, and exemplary sportsmanship, Otunba Runsewe described their participation as “a remarkable milestone and the beginning of greater things to come for golf in Nigeria.”
He extended special thanks to Mr. Amoibi Jituboh, popularly known as Mr. Zed and Chairman of ADL Solutions Limited, for his unwavering support. He also appreciated key stakeholders who made Nigeria’s participation possible, including Mrs. Olabisi Joseph, President of the Nigeria School Sports Federation; Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission; and Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director General of the NSC.
Runsewe emphasized that the exposure and experience gained at the global stage would serve as a strong foundation for nurturing future golf champions from Nigeria. “This historic outing signals a new dawn for the sport of golf in our nation and affirms Nigeria’s rising presence in the game across the African continent,” Runsewe stated. “Our young talents have shown the world what is possible with commitment, opportunity, and the right support.”
He reaffirmed the Federation’s dedication to nurturing grassroots talent and strengthening Nigeria’s global footprint in the sport.
