The president of the Nigerian Golf Federation (NGF), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has lauded the Governor of Plateau State, Hon. Simon Lalong, on the redesigned Rayfield Club’s 18 holes green course which was commissioned recently with a golf tournament in Jos.
The NGF president also commended the governor for his lofty contributions to the game of golf in the country.
Runsewe declared that Rayfield golf club which is the oldest in the country has led the emergence of other notable golf courses in Plateau and neighbouring states.
He, therefore, lauded Lalong for building a formidable golf synergy in Nigeria and thanked the executive committee members of Rayfield Golf Club for ensuring the course was reopened in style.
Responding, Governor Lalong expressed gratitude to golfers from other clubs who participated in the one week Pro-Am tourney.
He also appreciated the NGF president for accepting to be at the commissioning of the redesigned golf course.
In addition, the governor declared that the lush green 18 holes Rayfield golf course will continue to welcome golfers from any part of the world.
On his part, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of Rayfield Golf Club, Air Marshal JD Wuyep (Rtd) also lauded Governor Lalong for contributing immensely to the upgrading of facilities in the club and supporting the growth of golf in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
92-year old golfer, Baba Sam Gyang, stole the show for defiling his age to compete in the tournament.
At the end of the one-week golf tournament, prizes ranging from Tv sets, gas cookers, refrigerators, water dispensers and cash prizes were presented to winners.
