The Ambassador of Russia to Nigeria, Mr Nikolay Udovichenko, said this at the weekend while delivering a speech to mark the national day of the country in Abuja.
“Russia fully supports the strengthening of Africa’s position in the emerging international system, and a more audible, influential and independent voice for the countries of this continent on the international scene,” the envoy said
Speaking on the relationship between Nigeria and his country, the ambassador noted that they have maintained close and friendly relations with Nigeria since its independence.
He however noted that while Nigeria is facing security challenges it can feel the unanimous solidarity of the international community.
The envoy said: “We know from our own experience, how important it is to stand together in the fight against terrorism. Our country is ready as it has always been, to lend a hand to Nigeria in this struggle.”
