The first batch of Ukrainian evacuees from Bucharest, Romania, is expected to arrive Nigeria on Friday morning.

They are coming aboard a Max Air flight which would touch down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja in the early hours of Friday.

Daily Trust learnt that the Max Air flight to evacuate Nigerians taking refuge in Romania in the wake of the Russian-Ukrainian war landed in Bucharest, the Romanian capital, on Thursday evening.

The 747-400 wide-bodied aircraft landed at Henri Coandă International Airport at 7:45 local time.

The aircraft is expected to evacuate 560 Nigerians to Abuja on Friday.

It was learnt that as soon as the aircraft landed, the boarding formalities commenced while the aircraft is on its way to Abuja.

The flight time from Bucharest to Abuja is about six hours, 30 minutes..
