The state’s deputy governor , Engr Tele Ikuru who presented the cheque said  she would be trained for one year in South Africa by the state government in fashion design and other related field.
“Rivers State government gives you this blank cheque to show that all your bills while in South Africa for the one year training will be picked by the state government. The government will sponsor your trip,” he said.
Thompson who beat seven other contestants to emerge winner of the conveted prize expressed gratitude to God.
A sponsor of the events, Mrs Remmy Diagbere, editor of Allure, a publication of the Vanguard newspaper, who announced winners in other categories said Allure Vanguard focused on passion and creative powers in choosing winners of the various prizes.
Former beauty queen, Mrs Helen Ajayi who emerged Style Icon of the year lauded the state government for supporting development of the fashion industry, noting that the action would also create a robust economy in the state.
She further advised Nigerians to nurture their creative powers.
Bimpe Onokoya who won the Make up Artiste prize for the year  said she had waited for eleven years for the prize to come her way. “I thank God for this, it is like 11 years coming” she said.
The event featured top models who trotted the runway showcasing trendy fashions and designs and crooner Tuface thrilled the audience.
