S/Arabia to build Islamic centre in Nigeria

Rajeh made the disclosure yesterday in Abuja when Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Islamic Affairs and State House Mosque, Barrister Tahir Umar Tahir delivered the President’s message to the embassy.
The envoy said he has noted a lot progress in Nigeria since he assumed work as the new Ambassador and commended Nigeria’s contributions to peace-keeping missions all over the world.
“We have secured land and have gotten approval for the building of Kind Abdullah Islamic Centre in Abuja where Nigerians can study,” the envoy said.
He also disclosed that scholarships to Nigeria from Saudi Arabia have increased from 200 to 750 which will enable more Nigerians to study in different fields including Arabic and Islamic Studies.
“Last month about 18 women were sent to Saudi Arabia to study for Bachelor’s degree in different fields and they are expected to come back and contribute to the development of the country,” Rajeh said. He assured the president’s aide of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to further strengthen the bilateral relation between both countries.
The Special Assistant earlier sought for the embassy’s collaboration to organised different programmes ranging from seminars, workshops and conferences for peaceful co-existence of Nigerians.
He said the visit was necessitated by the fact that cooperation and collaboration must be sought from the missions to further strengthen peaceful co-existence in the country.
