Nigeria stole the spotlight at the CAF Awards 2025 in Rabat, with the Super Falcons and Chiamaka Nnadozie delivering the nation’s biggest moments on a night largely dominated by Morocco.

The Super Falcons were crowned Women’s National Team of the Year, reinforcing their unrivalled legacy on the continent. Fresh off their triumphant campaign at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), the 10-time African champions and nine-time World Cup participants were rewarded for a commanding tournament run that reminded Africa of their pedigree.

Their ability to outperform fellow finalists , Ghana’s Black Queens and hosts Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses, reaffirmed the Falcons’ position as the gold standard in African women’s football. The award also underscored the team’s consistency, resilience, and continued dominance despite the rapid growth of women’s football across the continent.

Adding to Nigeria’s celebrations, Chiamaka Nnadozie once again stamped her authority on African football, winning the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for an unprecedented third consecutive time.

The Brighton shot-stopper, widely regarded as one of the best female goalkeepers in the world, has enjoyed another remarkable year, combining reflex brilliance with leadership and stability for both club and country. Her back-to-back-to-back triumph further cements her place among Africa’s all-time greats between the posts.

While the event highlighted Morocco’s strong sweep of major men’s categories including Achraf Hakimi becoming the first defender in 52 years to win African Player of the Year, Nigeria’s women stood tall, leaving Rabat with two of the night’s most prestigious honours.
