As part of their preparations for the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, reigning champions and record 10-time winners Nigeria will face Cameroon in two friendly matches in Yaoundé during the FIFA Women’s International Window (24th February – 7th March).

The Super Falcons are scheduled to take on the Indomitable Lionesses on Saturday, 28th February, followed by a second encounter on Tuesday, 3rd March. The two sides previously met in a pre-tournament friendly ahead of last year’s WAFCON in Morocco, with Nigeria claiming a 2-0 victory at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.

Commenting on the fixtures, NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, MON, said: “We have finalised all arrangements for the two friendly matches in collaboration with our counterparts at FECAFOOT in Cameroon. Our focus remains on ensuring the Super Falcons are fully equipped to defend their WAFCON title in Morocco and secure a spot at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.”

Sharing a similar view, FECAFOOT General Secretary Isaac Mandong stated: “We are delighted to host the Nigerian national team and to further strengthen the relationship between our two federations through this partnership.”

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 13th edition of the Women Africa Cup of Nations will run from 17th March to 3rd April 2026 in Morocco. The four semi-finalists from the tournament will earn direct tickets to the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil next year.

 

As defending champions, the Super Falcons claimed their 10th continental title during last year’s WAFCON in Morocco, recording wins over Tunisia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, and the host nation. These upcoming friendlies against Cameroon are expected to play a key role in fine-tuning the squad and sustaining their momentum ahead of the tournament.
