Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday commiserated with victims of Sabon Gari fire disaster with a call on the Kano State Government to modernize markets in the state.
Obasanjo, while speaking at the Kano State Government House, said he was in the state to sympathize with victims of the Sabon Gari fire incident and to condole with the state governor, Abdullahi Uamr Ganduje, over the death of his mother, late Hajiya Fatima Umar Ganduje.
He urged the Kano State Government to map out modalities that will encourage traders to imbibe the culture of modern trend of doing business.
The former president said he was deeply touched by the demise of the governor’s mother, and that the late Fatima departed to the great beyond at the time when her wise counsel was much needed.
In his response, Governor Ganduje thanked the former president for his visit, stressing that the concern he exhibited was commendable.
