The Kano State government has donated N500 million to the victims of the Sabon-Gari market fire of earlier this year.

The state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stated this at the signing of an agreement between the state government and an indigenous company, Brian and Hammers Ltd., for the construction of the Kanawa Economic City.

The governor explained the money was sourced from internally generated revenue, and that the state government was paying serious attention to the development of markets as a result of which structural and road project execution had commenced at Kantin Kwari market, while that of other markets, especially Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi Market, would commence in 2017.
