The company also warned residents to desist from meter bye-passing, illegal connections and arbitrary extension of electricity cables, saying that customers who aide or abet vandalization of PHCN installations, would if aught be charged with criminal offences.

Yemi Awe and Aisha Yusuf, officials of the Public Affairs Department of the company, while entertaining complaints from consumers during a 30-minute interactive mobile telephone text-in forum which was broadcast on Peace FM Maiduguri, a Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) received and responded to text messages from consumers in English and Hausa respectively, offering explanations on the complaints, and giving reasons for the withdrawal of transformers, redirection of supply channels, power outages, load shedding, unequal treatment in distribution of electricity with neighbouring areas and irregularity in  electricity supply.

The forum further advised customers to settle their bills promptly and always report faults to the service stations located within their areas for prompt action, rather than employ the services of unauthorized persons.
