Sack: Court orders FAAN to pay ex-staff 4 years salary

The court ordered that the payment of the salaries from October 4, 2011 to April 29, 2015 should be paid to him within 30 days of the verdict.
The management of FAAN under the then aviation minister, Stella Oduah, had dismissed Alabidun on October 2011, claiming he did not fit into the transformation agenda of the Federal Government in the aviation sector
In his ruling, Justice Benedict Kanyip said the reason given for Alabidun’s dismissal was not tenable as the defendants did not show the nature of restructuring carried out within FAAN that necessitated the plaintiff’s sacking.
The judge said the defendants’ claim could not succeed since the office of the G.M Legal Services was not scrapped upon Alabidun’s sacking.
Kanyip awarded N50, 000 as costs against the defendants, adding that failure to pay as ordered would attract on the judgment sum an annual interest rate of 10 per cent.
Alabidun had proceeded to court contesting the legality of his dismissal, joining President Goodluck Jonathan and Oduah as first and second defendants respectively in the suit marked NICN/ LA/74/2014.
