The police in Lagos State have arrested a sacked driver, Solomon James, alleged to have  tried to dispossess his former boss, Uche Odims, of his belongings.

The Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, told journalists that the suspect was arrested when he attempted to escape from the Omole residence of his former employee.

“On July 21 at  8pm, the suspect, putting on a mask, forced himself into his victim’s house, ordered him to face down and tied him while he ransacked the house. “He later asked for his ATM card and tried initiating a transfer which was not successful.

“The suspect got frustrated and requested for his victim’s car key and documents. He subsequently threatened him with a condom and asked for his wife who wasn’t home at the time.

“James later robbed him of N38,000 and his car. He was trying to escape when the police apprehended him.

“Investigation, however, revealed that the suspect was a driver to his victim and that he had his appointment terminated two months before the incident,” Edgal said.

Edgal further urged members of the public to be careful about the kind of people they employed as domestic workers.

He advised them to profile their domestic workers to make it easy for the police to act whenever anything went wrong.

Meanwhile, the Ijanikin Division Police had on the same day arrested one Muyideen Fatai for attempted kidnap of a five-year-old girl.

It was gathered that the suspect pretended to be insane after his arrest but later confessed to have made the attempt because he liked the girl and wanted to take her home to feed her.

The commissioner said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded. (NAN)
