The chairman Board of Directors of Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, has been named as the Air Transport Personality of the Year at the 10th Nigerian Aviation Awards (NIGAV) 2019 held in Lagos.
The NIGAV Awards, which is tagged Nigeria’s most prestigious air transport development award, has become the benchmark for excellence in promoting healthy competition and rewarding best practices.
The award was presented to Dr. Afolabi for making immense contributions to the aviation industry through his notable investment and leadership excellence.
Spokesperson of SAHCO said in a statement that since Dr Afolabi bought SAHCO, through the SIFAX Group, from the federal government in 2009, he grew the worth of the company to triple its value before it was listed in the Nigerian Stock Market in 2019. Dr Afolabi is also the vice chairman of SIFAX Group, a conglomerate that is poised at building a sustainable, customer-centric business that optimises stakeholder value.
Similarly, the Managing Director/CEO of SAHCO, Basil Agboarumi, has won the African Patriotic Personality award presented by the Pan-African Student Movement (PASM).
The award, which was presented at the SAHCO headquarters in Lagos, is the Pan-African Distinguished Leadership Prize for excellence for “individuals whose lives exemplify the ideal of living for the benefit of others and dedicate themselves to practice that promotes African moral values, strong family life, cooperation, international harmony, renewal of the Pan African Ideology, a responsible public media and establishment of a culture of peace transcending race, national and religious barriers”.
Basil Agboarumi is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD Nigeria), a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR), an Associate Member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (arpa), and an alumnus of Pan-Atlantic University.
Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC is an aviation ground handling company that is involved in passenger handling, ramp handling, cargo and warehousing, VIP lounge services and crew services.
