Egypt captain, Mohamed Salah, has put aside his country’s victory over Morocco in the quarter-final and switched focus to the semi-final clash with Cameroon.

Salah, who is regarded as one of the best players in the world, was instrumental to his side’s 2-1 victory over Morocco in the North Africa derby. 

Responding to a post-match question about how the tournament has gone for him so far, Salah said the tournament was getting tough as more teams exited.

“I think it’s tough for everyone. As you can see, Algeria lost in the group stage despite being the defending champions. They had a great team and they lost. 

“Senegal qualified for the group stage with just one goal. I’m not saying bad things about them, I’m just saying the tournament is tough for everyone. 

“It was difficult for us at first, but we adapted. Nigeria were the best team in the group stage, but they were eliminated,” he said. 

Salah further said that he hopes his team can go all the way against the host.

“Now is the time to focus again. This is Cameroon and we are going from there,” he said.
