The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Owerri Zone, has ruled out legal action against the federal and state governments over continued shortfall in salaries of members and non- remittance of deductions to staff due to court delay. 

 

 Addressing journalists in Awka, the Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Ike Odimegwu, said ASUU would continue to adopt strike option to press home their demands.

“People are hungry and need to have money in their pockets. We know that strike is a legitimate tool used by unions to press home their demands. We have to use strikes because it yields quicker results,” he said.

Represented by the Chairperson, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUAU), Comrade Uzochukwu Onyebinama, Odimegwu pointed out that strike had been a legitimate tool used by unions.
