Salary payment delays in Kaduna

I have been a strong as well as an ardent well-wisher of the APC government under Malam Nasir el-Rufai in Kaduna state. I am still one and I shall always be one. I have confidence in his policies for making Kaduna great again. I am only satisfied so far by developmental strides his government has achieved. Particularly, his 2016 budget is a clear cut representation of a prudent government that values capital projects for the masses to recurrent expenditures that favour the few elites.
However, I am worried by one thing in Kaduna state. That is the untold hardship Kaduna state workers are plunged into as a result of salaries payment delays. It’s a fact that as I am writing this piece January, February, March and April salaries have not been paid to particularly Primary School teachers in many Local Government Areas of Kaduna state. It is also in record that that a considerable number of workers have not received their salaries of five months due to one reason or another. Surprisingly, these workers failed not to stop from the work.
We were made to believe that the delays were prompted because of the screening of workers that lasted in three phases for three to four consecutive months. But the screening was over and the unfortunate problem lingers.
I made several efforts to find out the real cause behind this development but I was left with no tangible explanation. But I so much believe that the delay in the payment of salaries of some Kaduna state workers especially Primary School teachers is never impressionable. It’s full of apathy from the government we don’t expect to act like this.
The aloofness as well as lethargy associated with the whole saga shows the government in a perjorative taste to the teaming populace.
A lot of people were forced to create unhealthy ways of making life. These workers have dependents and life must continue to flourish even if the sweets and flavours are denied. A lot of these workers suffer severely to live on. They struggle bitterly in keeping their families intact. They strive very hard with sweat to feed themselves and their wards.
The dullness of withholding salaries in Kaduna state is coldness and insouciance. People are dying of penury. A lot of them have been subjected to compromises and establishing corrupt practices in their places of work. El-Rufai cannot fight corruption with delays in the payment of salaries. Corruption is certainly waxing and dilating in Kaduna state.
Workers shall continue to stretch and germinate all windows of corruption in the civil service if this lassitude and stoicism of salaries delays thrive on. Haba Malam!!!
I advise that Kaduna State government should as a matter of urgency swing into immediate action to pay the affected workers their log of salaries for all the months. The workers should also be pacified thereby sending them apologies and assurances that such dispassion and passivity shall not recur.
