Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust in Kaduna, chairman of the forum, Hussein Sani Muhammad said the action is ill-advised and ill-timed considering the few weeks left for the government in office.
He said, “The attention of the forum has been drawn to the state government’s intention to sell of the state’s landed properties in a publication in the Daily Sun newspaper dated 16th March, 2015 by the Taraba State Ministry of Housing and signed by Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Aminu Muhammad Karim include house No. 22 Yakubu Avenue, GRA, Kaduna; Degel 11 Close, GRA Kaduna; No.1 Duwa Road, GRA, Kaduna North; and No. 14 Keffi Road, Bamwa, Kaduna South.
“As a forum of concerned individual indigenes of the state, we are constraint to make this passionate plea to the current administration of the state to reconsider their intentions. The forum is seriously concerned about the motive behind the sudden desire to dispose of our common heritage. All the properties belong to the entire indigenes and not just those in political offices.
“The forum also feels the action is ill-advised and ill-timed considering the few weeks left for this government in office. We do not believe that the government is selling these properties in the overall public interest. Rather, we suspect some ulterior motives hinged on the desire for monetary gains by people in government. We therefore advise that the process be stopped including the sale of the state’s aircraft located in Abuja and Kaduna.
“While not intending to directly interfere in the affairs of the government, as a group of people concerned with the progress of our dear state, we shall pursue all legal means possible to ensure that our landed properties including the aircraft are not sold at give-away prices without any jurisdiction pending when the judicial workers call off their strike action.”
He said the forum was made to understand that the New Nigerian Development Company (NNDC) has shared asserts stressing that the overall aim of the forum is to ensure that what is due to the state is given to it as at when due.
