A 45-year-old salesman, Joseph Ogang, who allegedly stole 34 packets of human hair, valued at N2.3 million, was on Monday arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Ogang, whose address was not disclosed, was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Benson Emuerhi, told the court that Ogang, who conspired with others still at large, stole 34 packets of human hair worth N2.3 million.

He said that the accused allegedly stole the human hair and N150,000 cash, which belonged to the complainant, Kechi Hair Beauty Salon.

Emuerhi said that the alleged theft occurred on Sept. 9, 2018 at No. 25, Oba Akinjobi Street, G.R.A, Ikeja, around 10.30 a.m.

“Ogang sold the human hair and converted the proceeds to his own personal use,’’ he told the court.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Olufunke Sule-Amzat, granted the accused N200, 000 bail, with two sureties in like sum.

She said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused.

Besides, Sule-Amzat said that the sureties should be gainfully employed, adding that they should also present evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She later adjourned the case until Feb. 21 for mention. (NAN)
