Salisu Yusuf returns as Kano Pillars technical adviser

Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf, has been appointed as the technical adviser of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giants, Kano Pillars.

He was unveiled on Tuesday by the Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who was represented by his deputy, Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.

He was charged to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the club.

The coach who is popularly called D-Black by his teeming fans is having his third stint with Pillars having coached the team on two previous occasions in 2007 and 2010.

He left the ‘Masu gida’ boys to serve as coach of Enyimba FC, El-Kanemi Warriors and Enugu Rangers in the NPFL.

Ganduje said “Salisu D-Black is highly experienced. Having coached the Super Eagles, we have confidence in him. He will return the club to its rightful place in both local and international football.

“This is your home. Therefore, you are welcome back”.

The former Ranchers Bees and El-Kanemi Warriors star is being tipped by some Nigerians to serve as the interim manager of the Super Eagles, if the present technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, is eventually sacked by the NFF.

He was in charge of the Home-based Super Eagles who reached the finals of the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations (CHAN) in Morocco before losing 0-4 to the hosts in the finals.

Salisu, who was handed a one-year ban in 2018 by FIFA over bribery, was re-appointed as assistant coach of the Super Eagles in October 2021.
