Sallah: First time users express satisfaction with AKTS, LITS train rides

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) witnessed massive passenger turnout on the Abuja–Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) and Lagos–Ibadan Train Service (LITS) corridors as Nigerians trooped to the train stations for the Sallah celebration travels.

The heavy rush, which began early Tuesday, saw large numbers of passengers patronising the rail system, with many first-time users expressing satisfaction over the comfort, safety, affordability and seamless nature of train operations.

At the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station in Lagos and the Obafemi Awolowo Station in Moniya, Ibadan, passengers were seen arriving in large numbers to board the special additional train services introduced by the NRC to ease movement during the festive period. Similar passenger traffic was also recorded along the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, where travellers commended the improved services and security arrangements on the route.

Some of the first-time passengers who spoke during the trip described their experience as exciting and stress-free, noting that the train service offered them a safer and more convenient alternative to road transportation, especially during the festive rush.

A passenger travelling from Lagos to Ibadan said the punctuality and orderly boarding process exceeded his expectations, while another passenger on the Abuja–Kaduna route praised the comfort of the coaches and the professionalism of NRC staff.

The Corporation had earlier announced temporary additional trips on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor for Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to accommodate the expected increase in passenger movement for the Sallah celebration.

The NRC Management expressed appreciation to passengers for their continued confidence in rail transportation and reassured Nigerians of its commitment to safe, efficient and customer-friendly services across all operational corridors.

The Management also urged passengers to continue to cooperate with railway officials and adhere strictly to all safety guidelines at stations and onboard trains for smooth operations during and after the festive period.
