Following the surge in passengers’ turnout during the Eid- el- Kabir celebrations, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has extended its additional trips on Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna trains.
The NRC on Saturday disclosed that it would operate additional special train services across its major standard gauge corridors on Monday 9th June 2025.
This followed the success of earlier special trips on Thursday, 5th June, which witnessed full bookings and high commuter traffic.
The extra trips, according to the NRC acting Ag. Deputy Director Public Relations, Callistus Unyimadu would ease return travel for festive travelers heading back to their destinations.

It disclosed that the scheduled trips between Lagos to Ibadan and Ibadan to Lagos would operate by 8:00 a.m, 1:56 pm and 11:03 am (additional trip) while the 4pm trip would now depart by 4:46 pm.
Also, it stated that the Abuja-Kaduna Services have been Extended to Tuesday, 11th June 2025.
It added that to manage the continued high demand on the Abuja-Kaduna corridors, NRC will extend its full Six-trips daily schedule originally applicable from Friday to Monday, to Tuesday, 11th June 2025.
He said the six trips on Abuja to Kaduna and Kaduna to Abuja would operate by 7:45am; 7:00am; 2:00pm; 2:00pm; 3:10pm and 5:00pm respectively.
The Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode OPEIFA PhD said the move reflects the corporation’s responsiveness to public needs and dedication to delivering efficient, safe and timely rail services.
“We are pleased with the public’s response to our special services. These additional trips are part of our commitment to meeting the growing demand for rail mobility,” he stated.
