The Niger State Police Command has announced the deployment of over 500 personnel to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Minna by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Adamu Elleman, has directed Heads of Departments (HODs), Area Commanders (ACs), Tactical Commanders, the Intelligence Unit, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to implement intelligence-led policing. This includes the raiding of known “blackspots” within their respective areas of responsibility.
He further directed officers to mobilise operational assets such as Anti-riot water cannons, gun trucks, patrol vehicles and ensure massive deployment of personnel for visibility policing show of force with other security agencies.
“This is to enable them dominate public space for a tight security arrangement before, during and after the festivity,” he said.
Elleman also directed Tactical Commanders to ensure sufficient deployment of tactical teams such as the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), and Explosive Ordinance Disposal. (NAN)
