Former Governor of Jigawa state Senator Saminu Turaki is among those who have decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jigawa on Monday.
Senator Turaki who decamped the PDP along with the Deputy Governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud Gumel in Gumel town was also joined by other decampees including former Senator Muhammad Baban Beta who represented Jigawa Northwest Senatorial district from 1999 to 2003 and Senator Muhammad Dudu who represented Jigawa North-East Senatorial district from 1999-2007.
Receiving the decampees, the Jigawa state APC chairman, Ado Sani Kiri said with such caliber of men, the APC was certain of victory in the governorship polls come April 11.
Meanwhile, thousands of APC supporters who stormed Gumel since 6 am on Monday made it difficult for the deputy governor to alight from his car. “Sai Badaru!” rented the air as he made to alight.
Senator Saminu Turaki last year launched the Saminiyya political movement which initially was meant to work for the PDP but later left and joined the APC.
