The councillor representing Abak Urban ward 2 and the leader of Abak Legislative Council, Queen Sandra Bassey, has marked 100 days in office with overwhelming life-touching projects, according to a statement by her team.
Queen Bassey, the youngest legislative leader in Akwa Ibom State and the first female legislative leader in Abak was the Most Beautiful Model In Nigeria International in 2015 and also a former Miss Niger Delta.
Long before she ventured into politics, she has used her office to advance humanitarian works and philanthropic gestures targeted at enhancing the lives of communities.
She has, through her empowerment, reached hundreds of women, youths and less privileged.
According to the statement, her political journey had provided her with a broader platform to touch more lives, not only in Akwa Ibom but Niger Delta and Niger at large.
The statement read in part: “Since her swearing in as councilor representing Abak Urban ward 2 Akwa Ibom State, she has recorded significant milestones which has further earned her more love among the people.
“Some of the impactful projects she has undertaken in the past 100 days in office include sharing of food palliatives and relief materials to widows across six communities in her constituency.
“Also in the past 100 days, with her Back To School project, Queen Bassey has distributed educational Materials (Exercise books, pen, pencil, sharpener etc), and school sandals to all students in all the primary schools across her Abak Urban ward 2.
“Also, as a leader with good heart for the special persons, she recently embarked on a door-to-door distribution of relief items to physically challenged people across the six villages in her ward.
“A shoemaker herself, who understands the need for skills and employment, she rolled out an empowerment scheme for 200 youths in the 12 wards of Abak where they were taught graphics design, photography, computer operations and other skills to enable them to be self-reliant.”
The statement added that, under her leadership, roads in the two communities of Manta and Ukpom have received a face lift through grading.
Additionally, she has also intervened with cash transfer to less privileged people in her community and beyond to enable them cater for their basic needs, it said while adding that she had in the past 100 days introduced bursary for Abak students across 11 universities in the country.
