The aborigines of Sanga in Sanga local government area of Kaduna state found it necessary to, through this medium, commend the efforts of Kaduna state governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, for his commitment to move the state to greater heights amidst the heaps of worrying but surmountable challenges and liabilities he inherited from the regime he succeeded.
Even though our very discerning, peace loving and progressive people cannot claim to be unaware of the multitudes of demands and expectations of the various constituents that made up the state, from you, we still want to join them in presenting our very worrisome demands, trusting that you will come to our rescue.
We also want to admit and appreciate the difficult challenges which you are battling to overcome in the face of the general and dwindling resources in the country and despite which you have continued to mark with the view of rolling out catalogue of developmental projects in different parts of the state, which if successfully completed, will no doubt position the state in the class it rightly belongs to, or ought to have been decades ago.
It is against this backdrop that we found it compelling to draw your attention to two basic demands – construction of Gwantu-Sanga-Godogodo road and provision of electricity in Sanga and its neighboring villages.
As farmers, to remind you, the importance of this road was first discovered in 1979 by Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa who was then the state’s governor. Alhaji Balarabe Musa did not only visit Sanga to have a first-hand knowledge and asses the importance of this road, no, in fact he even made sure that work started on the road immediately after his visit.
But regrettably, his tenure was short lived or truncated by agents of darkness and therefore the project was abandoned by the regime that took over from him.
The importance of this road, if constructed, cannot be overemphasized because it is going to benefit several communities which include – Sanga A, Sanga B, Ung/Ningon, Ung/Doka, Ambe Sarki, Gobir, Ung/Shanu, Ung/Haruna, Dogon Daji, Akwa, Ung/Turawa, Ung/Banjo etc.
All the people of these communities are full time and inherited farmers and fishermen, who seriously need the roads to transport their farm produce to Gwantu, Godogodo and other weekly markets. Lack of these roads had caused a lot of untold hardship to our people and consequently impeded our collective drive for self-determination.
Construction of this road therefore and provision of electricity in these areas will help immeasurably in the development of not only Sanga town, but the local government and the state and the country in general.
