Niger East Senator, Sani Musa, has constituted a committee to oversee the implementation of his merit-based international scholarship scheme.

The committee, drawn from across the nine local government areas in the district, was officially inaugurated on Thursday, June 27, 2025.

Representing the Senator at the event, Chairman of the Senator’s Advisory Council, Alhaji Bisalla Babasule, Sarkin Shanu of Suleja, delivered the appointments and conveyed the lawmaker’s message to the newly selected members.

According to Babasule, the appointments were carefully made based on the members’ reputations for integrity, professionalism, and deep-rooted commitment to service. He called on the committee to uphold transparency, fairness, and excellence in executing the vital task of selecting deserving students for foreign education.

The foreign scholarship initiative is designed to send bright and deserving students from Niger East to world-class institutions in Europe, Asia, North America, and other regions. It represents a key plank in Senator Sani Musa’s broader vision to produce globally equipped and intellectually refined citizens who can return to strengthen Nigeria’s social and economic systems.

Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe of Rafi LGA chairs the newly inaugurated committee. Other distinguished members include: Prof. James Nuhu Galadima (Shiroro LGA), Dr. Aliyu Muhammad Busa (Bosso LGA), Prof. Hakimi Danladi (Munya LGA), Prof. Bala Abdullahi (Suleja LGA), Prof. Abubakar Sadauki (Chanchaga LGA), Prof. B.E.N. Dauda (Gurara LGA), Dr. Musa Emmanuel (Tafa LGA) and Prof. Mohammed Paiko (Paikoro LGA).

Supporting the committee are three secretariat officials: Mr. Emmanuel Makun, Mr. Okoro Ikechukwu, and Mr. Masud Balarebe.

The inauguration ceremony attracted prominent figures including Alhaji Nma Kolo, Special Adviser on Political Affairs and Strategy to Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, as well as members of the Senator’s Advisory Council, zonal representatives, liaison officers, and other community stakeholders.

In his response, Committee Chairman Ibrahim Balarabe expressed gratitude to Senator Sani Musa for entrusting them with such a crucial responsibility. He pledged that the committee would work diligently to ensure the credibility, fairness, and impact of the selection process, emphasizing that the initiative will uplift the region’s youth and reposition the district as a hub of academic excellence.

This scholarship programme adds to the growing list of Senator Sani Musa’s educational interventions, which include digital learning projects, school infrastructure upgrades, and local scholarship schemes aimed at fostering equity and access to quality education.

In a statement released by his media office, Senator Musa congratulated the committee and reiterated that the future of Niger East and Nigeria depends on purposeful investments in education. He called on the committee to remain focused on merit, integrity, and the transformative power of knowledge.
