Sardauna surpasses all traditional titles in Kano -Bayero

Alhaji Ado Bayero said this when the organising committee on the forthcoming turbaning ceremony of the Sardauna, led by the state’s Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar, paid him a courtesy call at his palace last Tuesday.

The emir said the protocol of conferring traditional titles in the emirate had changed with Sardauna topping the cadre of traditional titles, even that of Ciroma, which is presently held by his first son, Alhaji Sunusi Ado Bayero.

Bayero said the title of Sardauna, which originated from Sokoto emirate, was, by tradition, a title bestowed on the first son of the emirate. Therefore, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, being the Sardauna, was now conferred first son of the emirate.

He also said Shekarau was conferred Sardaunan Kano, considering achievements of his administration in the state while he wished him success in all his future endeavours in the state and  the nation as a whole.

It will be recalled that the state’s emirate council conferred Malam Ibrahim Shekarau as Sardaunan Kano last month while the turbaning ceremony has been scheduled for 22nd January 2010.
