The Sarkin Bwari, Alhaji Musa Mohammed Ijakoro has died.
He was 81 years old.
The secretary to the traditional ruler, Yusuf Mamman Sphere, said the deceased died at about 9:12 am yesterday at his residence after a protracted illness.
“He was taken to a private clinic in Abuja, where he received treatment for some days before he was discharged. He passed on this morning (yesterday),” he said.
He was buried yesterday according to Islamic rites.
The FCT Minister, Alhaji Muhammad Musa Bello, at the funeral prayer, expressed shock and sadness over his demise.
He extended the condolences of President Muhammadu Buhari, to the people of Bwari chiefdom and entire members of the deceased family and prayed for the reposed soul of the deceased to rest in peace.
Among those at the funeral service were the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, representatives of Emir of Zaria, Dr Shehu Idris, Emir of Suleja, Alhaji Awwal Ibrahim and Senator Philip Aduda.
The late chief that ascended the throne in 1973 was survived by four wives, 24 children and many grandchildren.
