Agege Hausa community yesterday announced the withdrawal of Jagaba title bestowed on Alhaji Abdullahi Kabiru Ahmed over what the palace chiefs described as gross misconduct and disloyal to royal council.

In a letter signed by the Turaki of Agege and chairman, disciplinary committee, Alhaji Abdusalam Salisu on behalf of the chieftaincy council and made available to City News, titled Withdrawal of royal tittle of Jagaban Agege from you on account of misconduct, the chieftancy council said it arrived on its decision after observing Ahmed’s conduct within the community for the past one year, most especially, his attitude of politicizing the entire traditional activities after several warnings.

“You are found to be sabotaging the efforts of the council toward developing the community, instigating members of the community against the backdrop of government environmental policy, physical violence against the members of the chieftancy council, awkward utterances during public events, disregard and disrespect to the Sarkin Hausawa of Agege, other sarkis and Arewa community leaders in Lagos State.”

Ahmed who is also the executive secretary, Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LSWRC) was installed in 2010 during the third anniversary celebration of Sarkin Hausawa of Agege, Alhaji Musa Muhammed Dogon.

The council in the letter had told Ahmed that the title of Jagaba is for good and exemplary leaders and that it would not allow it to be ridiculed or abused.

Speaking further on the development, Sarkin Hausawa of Agege, Alhaji Musa Muhammed Dogon said the chieftancy council has raised the issue before the Lagos State government, and its representatives had on several occasions came to the palace, to seek audience with Arewa community in Agege on the issue.
