The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and restitution for victims of police brutality has continued to make deserving victims richer even as some argued that what they got was less than what they demanded.

The first two petitioners to get compensation are, Adebayo Abayomi and Hannah Olugbodi, who got N10m each for the loss and disability they suffered as a result of misuse of firearms by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

Mr. Mark Nwadu, was also awarded N7.5m compensation for unlawful arrest and detention which made him to become partially blind from suffering in Kirikiri prison.

Mrs. Felicia Opara, a young woman captured in a viral video on October 12, 2020 following an alleged assault by some police officers at Ojuelegba, Lagos was handed a cheque of N750, 000 as compensation.

Tolulope Openiyi got N10m compensation while Mrs. Blessing Omoregie Esanbor got N5m. The panel found that though her police assailant, Emmanuel Okujor, was imprisoned for 17 years for the offence, the petitioner still has a permanent disability and requires plastic surgery to fix her face.

Mr. Tella Adesanya of the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services got N500,000 for unlawful arrest for three days, seizure of his car from 2018 till date, extortion and for the trauma he suffered at the hands of the police.

The panel also recommended the immediate release of his car.
