The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has extended its humanitarian free eye care mission to Ibadan, Oyo State, under the “Saudi Noor” ophthalmic volunteer programme.
Running from August 1 to 7, 2025, the mission is spearheaded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) and reflects the kingdom’s vision of expanding access to quality healthcare, especially in underserved communities.
Mohammed Alsahabi, Saudi Press Attaché in Nigeria, said the residents of Ibadan and surrounding areas will benefit from a range of high-impact eye care services, including diagnostic screenings, cataract surgeries with intraocular lens implants, treatment of refractive errors, and distribution of prescription eyeglasses.
Since its launch in Nigeria in 2019, the Saudi blindness prevention initiative has provided over 218,000 eye exams, facilitated more than 21,000 sight-restoring surgeries, and distributed over 45,000 eyeglasses.

Alhaji Tajudeen Adebayo, one of the beneficiaries, urged all those with eye problems to take advantage of the opportunity, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
Another beneficiary, Kasali Mariam, praised the Saudi Government for the initiative, expressing hope that her eye condition would be resolved permanently.
