The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria said 25,000 tons of date fruits, 70,000 copies of the Holy Qur’an and other items will be distributed to at least 50,000 Nigerians as part of its annual 1444A.H/2023 Ramadan support for the under privileged.

 Speaking at a Ramadan iftar to flag off the distribution in Abuja, the embassy’s cultural attaché, Nami JaralLah Al-Shamari, said the items would be distributed simultaneously in designated centres in Abuja, Lagos, Kano and other states of the federation.

He said the kingdom was always interested to lead in social and humanitarian aid to communities across the globe, and that its relief packages were not distributed to only Muslims.

He said non-Muslims have also benefited from the kingdom’s aid programmes.

Sheikh Safiyanu Abdullahi, the Chief Imam of the National Assembly quarters mosque in Abuja and the programme coordinator, said the items would be distributed in collaboration with about 150 registered non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
