We are in a very difficult situation, people are being kidnapped by some bunch of criminals housed in the vast bushes circling the ancient town of Ningi in Bauchi state.
The issue of kidnappers in Ningi and by extension Bauchi state has become an endemic problem which now leaves the young, the old, women and children vulnerable to be abducted by merciless unknown gangs who are all out to harvest money and wealth through kidnapping of our people.
Ningi town have been encircled by these vagabonds and they have succeeded in installing permanent fear in the mind of the young and the old people in Ningi local government. In one of the efforts of the local people and leadership of Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Yunusa Mohammed Danyaya, letters were written to then Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero and the executive governor of Kano state, an intervention was sought for and you bet it, the timely intervention see to the drafting of soldiers who scout out these criminals, but after security operatives withdrawal we are now back to where it stopped.
During this past Sallah celebration, Alhaji Mato Bura was kidnapped but only released when heavy ransom was paid; he was released on Sallah day.
Alhaji Bala Zubaidu was also whisked away by these criminals but released on a heavy ransom.
Just yesterday’s discussion with a prince of Ningi, Aminu Yunusa Ningi, indicated that some three days ago the district head of Tulu Alhaji Adamu Yakubu from the neighbouring Toro Local Government Area is presently in the hand of these kidnappers without any form of trace or communication. Two girls were also taken yesterday from Alhaji Musege’s house in Mara area of Base district of Ningi Local Government Area. A house wife was equally kidnapped two days ago from Alhaji Na Allah’s house.
In their continued efforts to protect themselves, the people of Ningi have resort to self-help, collaborating with the police and local vigilante for a joint patrol.
Two people were rescued, five AK47 guns were recovered, four Bajaj motor cycles were confiscated and four kidnappers killed. From all indication, local efforts cannot be a solution to this menace, a powerful contingent of military, DSS and police specialist should be quickly drafted to curtail and eradicate this menace before it explode into something else.
This is why we use this medium to shout out loud to the federal government to come to our rescue and save our souls before it is taken by these kidnappers who may house it in the dungeon only released when we give our last hard earned money as a ransom.
