A Kuje Upper Area Court in Abuja, yesterday, sentenced a 32-year-old scavenger, Muktar Sani, to three months imprisonment for stealing a generator valued at N40,000.
Sani, a resident of Shadadi Area in Kuje, was arraigned on a three-count charge of joint act, criminal trespass and theft.
The judge, Malam Abdulkareem Abdullahi, convicted Sani as he admitted committing the offence, but gave him N15,000 option of fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Doris Okoroba, told the court that on Sept. 20, one Udeme Akpan of Paseli Area in Kuje, reported the incident at the Kuje Police Station.
According to Sani, the defendant and two others now at large, entered the complainant’s building site and stole a generator, valued at N40, 000
The offence, the prosecutor said, contravened sections 79, 342 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
