The participants at a collaborative workshop entitled “Leadership for Higher Education: A Vision from Islamic Perspectives” noted this at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
The dons called for decolonisation of education, urging universities to produce students who are ethically responsible and active global players.
Vice chancellors of University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulganiyyu Ambali; Al-Qualam University, Katsina, Prof. Shehu Ado; USIM, Prof. Musa Ahmad; Vice  Chancellor, Albukhary International University, Malaysia, Prof. Dzulkifli Abdul Razak; former Vice  Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede and others were at the workshop.
They recommended integration of Naqli (revealed knowledge) and Aqli (rational knowledge) as panacea for instability and hatred among people and nations.
Also, the participants advocated collaboration among institutions within and across borders, noting that exchange of scholars, students and facilities would benefit humanity and enhance development.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellors of University of Ilorin and AUK have reiterated the commitment of their universities to the production of well grounded graduates by making best use of the existing resources and partnering with other institutions.    
They disclosed that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the universities with USIM would be of mutual benefit and assist national development.
While addressing Nigerian students at USIM, the Nigerian team urged them to strive for excellence and contribute their quotas to Nigeria development after graduation.
The Nigerian Students President, Ahmed Afiz, assured them that they would continue to be good ambassadors and called for job placements, sponsorship and other assistance for the members.
