The Director, Policy Planning and Research Development in the Ministry of Education, Magdalene Maidor, has asked unity schools to be prudent in spending monies earmarked for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) projects. 

She made the remark at the 2017 SDGs’ projects and programmes meeting in Abuja. She said lack of technical capacity in due process had in the past been the major challenge in the release of SDGs’ funds and asked beneficiary schools to spend monies wisely on approved projects. 

She said the funds were given to schools for the provision of modern kitchen and renovation of dining halls, building of VIP toilets as well as provision of solar electric systems. She said principals would be held accountable for all the monies given to their schools. 

Acting Permanent Secretary, Dr. Hussaini Adamu, said the SDGs’ interventions to schools were as a result of the presence of unhealthy school environment, lack of safe water and dilapidated building in the schools.

 He urged the SDGs’ officials to interact with beneficiaries for proper execution of work plans and programmes.
