The championship is slated to take place between December 1 and 5 at Bahru, Malaysia.

The players are: Ayorinde Saidu, Dennis Ikekeregor, Chinedu Okwelogu, Moses Peter and the reigning African champion, Wellington Jighere.

Disclosing this to Grassroots Sports, the federation technical director, Mpaka Jack, said the first four players were selected from the national current ratings, following the completion of the Governor Godswill Akpabio International Classics.

Jack said the current African champion, Jighere, was given a wildcard to vie for honour in the six-day international championship.

He charged them to put Nigeria on the world scrabble map by winning medals for Nigeria, advising them to be good ambassador of the country.

“Let us support this team to conquer the world of Scrabble,” Jack charged.

The players have assured scrabble-loving Nigerians that they are going to do their best to give the country a befitting representation and bring some medals from the Asian country.
