Increased cases of corruption in education has robbed the Universal Basic Education of “needed steam in driving street children into the classroom,” according to its president Ide Owodiong-Idemeko.
The groups said it would amplify its campaign to return children to classroom and cut the number of children out of school, estimated at 10.5 million by UNICEF.
“NAS is collaborating with and the global ‘A World at School Initiative’ based in London and New York that recently petitioned President Goodluck Jonathan, state governors and ministers over this alarming trend,” said Owodiong-Idemeko.
