The Association of Nigerian Imams, led by its National Chairman, Sheikh Mohammad Nasiru Adam, has convened in Damaturu, Yobe State, to offer special prayers and supplications for Nigeria and its leaders.

Addressing journalists at the Islamic Centre in Damaturu, the association’s Assistant General Secretary, Dr. Yusuf Abdullahi Yusuf, acknowledged the twin challenges of insecurity and economic hardship facing Northern Nigeria and the nation at large.

He described the prayer session as crucial, noting that while human efforts have yielded limited results, divine intervention remains the most reliable path to safety, stability, and good governance.

“We use this opportunity to reflect in seclusion and continually pray for God’s assistance for our beloved nation,” he said.

The Yobe State Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Ethical Reorientation, Yusuf Umar, emphasized that Nigeria is the only country its citizens have, urging both leaders and the general public to prioritize prayers for lasting peace and unity.

Also speaking, the Chief Imam of Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre, Damaturu, Sheikh Hudu Mohammad Yusuf, said the association aims to promote sustained prayers, guide leaders toward justice, and strengthen collaboration among imams across the country.

The gathering concluded with a nationwide prayer for Nigeria, its government, and its leaders.
