A 65-year-old security guard attached to a private residence at Lamido Crescent, Nasarawa GRA, Kano State has been found guilty of sexual abuse of a minor and sentenced to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine.
The convict, Idris Yunusa, had on February 6, reportedly lured a 15-year-old girl, (name withheld), to an uncompleted building where he sexually abused her and gave her ₦200.
Yunusa pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against him by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), confessing that he met the girl five times when she usually came in search of wooden planks used as firewood.
The convict pleaded for leniency, saying he regretted his actions and would not repeat it if given the chance.

Prosecution counsel, Muhammad Babale, who tendered confessional statements of the defendant and that of the victim’s family and a transfer letter from Hisbah to NAPTIP dated 22.02.25,said the offence was contrary to Section 16 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
Justice SM Shuaibu asked the convict why he chose to have carnal knowledge of a girl when he had a wife, Yunusa said his wife left him a long time ago. The trial judge sentenced him to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine.
A sister of the victim told the court that their father had abandoned his family and has not returned since he travelled to Niger Republic where he came from.
