Security guard macheted at Abuja duty post

Operators of a housing unit in EFAB Estate, located in Karsana District, Abuja, were left in confusion following an attack against their newly deployed security guard in the facility. The victim, named Godpower Ope, was severely cut around the lower part of his two legs, and also on his back, by the attackers, who reportedly accessed the facility after scaling its fence.

One of the facility’s managers, seen looking after the victim at the Kubwa General Hospital yesterday, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the attackers left the victim in a painful condition, likely assuming he was dead.

He said the attackers arrived at the facility around 1 am on Sunday, demanding the victim to open a door.

“He didn’t comply with their demand, and suddenly he saw them crossing to a location, and they began attacking him. The incident took place at a time when a colleague of the victim, who was supposed to be with him at the duty post, had left to another location within the facility to pass his night.

He was able to wake up later around 2 am and raised the alarm over what had happened to him,” the manager said.
