The chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Mohammed Maku-Sidi, has clarified that a joint security forces, comprising vigilantes, hunters and the police actually gunned down one of the kidnappers that invaded his private residence at Sabon-Wuse in Tafa LGA of Niger State and not him as earlier reported.

Maku-Sidi, while narrating how the incident happened during an interview with our reporter on Thursday, said the kidnappers, who were five in number, wielding sophisticated weapons, forced their ways into his house through one of the entrance doors.

He said one of the kidnappers ordered one of his boys to lead them into his bedroom, saying he stood up immediately upon hearing the strange sound from the window.

According to him, he immediately hid at a corner inside the room when one of the kidnappers started shooting towards the windows of his room.

He said he quietly put a call to the security operatives on patrol that night.

He appreciated the joint security team for their quick response to his distress call, even as he thanks God that none of his family members was injured or kidnapped during the incident.
